Back
"You are what you have", our TV programmes whisper, perhaps stirring within us feelings of inadequacy: a new DS, I-pod, handbag, car; the list of "must-have's" is endless. In contrast, today's reading invites us to find joy in the knowledge that we don't need possessions to be better people or to feel better about ourselves. No designer gear necessary. God is in action in each one of us, finishing his good work. God is making you a better person than you could ever imagine, a better version than you could ever buy.
Think about God's good work in you: identify three things (or more!) about yourself that you really like.
It is so easy to focus on our negative behaviour. This week, make a conscious effort to recognise the good things people do - however small their actions - and create opportunities to thank them for their goodness.
Loving God
Help me to trust that you are working within me and that, with my cooperation, you are making me a more loving and generous person, the best version of myself that I can be. Help me to take joy in recognising signs of your good work in my life- in others, in myself - and to be grateful for it.
